The ANZHPBA encourages surgical research in all Trainees. To this end we have created a Research Information Page summarising clinical and laboratory-based research opportunities in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery throughout Australia and New Zealand. Institutions or hospitals with a track record of research, the names of research mentors, and any research opportunities have been collated to facilitate and encourage the pursuit of research before, during or after HPB Fellowship Training.
The Research "mentors" listed in the document welcome enquiries about research interests and opportunities and are happy to provide advice or direction, as needed.
The Executive of the ANZHPBA are keen to see an increase in research activity in the field of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery throughout Australia and New Zealand. To this end, we are offering two Annual Research Scholarships worth $20,000 each, commencing in 2015. These will be awarded to any Association members planning to undertake HPB training or who are currently enrolled in the two year Fellowship Program.
There is an expectation that trainees undertaking an ANZHPBA Fellowship will participate actively in either clinical or laboratory-based research during the two year training program. Accordingly, candidates who have successfully completed a Higher Degree or who are considering enrolling in a higher degree may be at an advantage during selection for the ANZHPBA Program.
